About Naomi
Naomi Bean lives beside a river in Leicestershire. Her autism, PTSD and chronic illness, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), give her a unique view on the world and drives her desire to find a shared language to express our inner thought, through metaphors and personification.
With a background in the sciences, and a lifetime observing nature and the world around her, Naomi has a good understanding of natural processes and the creatures that inhabit it. When she draws a creature she bases her images on personal experiences. She visualises how the creature moves beneath their skin, fur and scales, bringing a realism, alongside drama and humour, to her work. She finds this resonates with viewers, and may explain why one of her pieces was stolen from a professional gallery last summer.
